Hi… Welcome to my updated website!!
One of the sites new features is something I call Teka Unleashed. It’s a way for me to share my personal adventures, training tips and some interesting topics that might be helpful to you.
There is so much I want to share here, but since it’s Summer and Rattlesnake season I want to share some tips on how to keep you and your dog safe on trails.
Hiking is a wonderful way to explore the great outdoors and reap the benefits of being outside and physically active … especially, when we have a 4 legged hiking partner to next to us! It not only provides our dog with much needed exercise, but also gives their noses and brains a work out too!!
However, before hitting the trails, it’s important to make sure your dog is in good health and is able to handle the rough terrain to avoid blistering their paws. Next, research the trail (I use Alltrails App) to see if it offers enough shade, if dogs are allowed and how well maintained it is — that way, it’s easier to spot poison oak as well as snakes. Ugh! I know! We can’t forget they share the trails as well.
With love and kindness,
In my next post, I’ll talk about how to keep your dog safe from Rattlesnakes.
