My Dog Training Programs

BEST MONEY I HAVE EVER SPENT!!! I think EVERYONE with a dog should hire Teka because the insight she gives you is priceless.

Rebecca O - Los Angeles

I am both an Obedience and Behavioral Trainer.

These two methods may look the same, however the outcome and reward structure are very different. My passion is to combine both approaches.
Obedience Training teaches a common language (Come, Sit, Down, Stay, Leave It, etc.) which enables owners and their pets to communicate. However, understanding commands means nothing if your dog is excited, fearful or aggressive because, just like in humans, emotions can override rational thinking. Which is why I also encourage everyone to include Behavior Modification Training, which changes the way an animal thinks, understands and feels.

I work per session (not "per dog" or "package lessons") and I prefer private training because it provides a better understanding of the entire communication dynamic and overall interaction with the pet. I often work with families to ensure that everyone has as much practice as possible to insure the confidence to do it for themselves. Usually, one or two sessions are enough to get the tools you need to create the changes you're looking for.

I offer two different types of training sessions.

BEHAVIORAL TRAINING
(Foundational Skills)
  • Learning how your dog thinks and learns.
  • Teaching Emotional Control and Focus.
  • Housebreaking issues.
  • Preventing (or working with) Separation Anxiety.
  • Aggression, Territorial, Resource Guarding Issues.
  • Leash Aggression.
  • Chewing, Jumping, Barking.
  • Working on interaction and how to get along with other pets.
  • Rehabilitation (if the dog was abused, neglected, feral).
  • Trust/Fear Issues (Human Socialization).
OBEDIENCE
TRAINING
  • Verbal/Hand Signal Commands
  • Sit, Down, Come, Stay, Leave It, Off.
  • Leash training
  • How to properly introduce dogs and how to avoid that, if necessary.
